Dogs Shed
Fences, cages, dog houses, and dog sheds are used to keep one’s pet dog secure and safe. Dog sheds could be built with or without the roof, but should at least have a comfortable space for the dog to move around. This is to make the dog feel more or less at home and totally caged or imprisoned.
Considerations in building a dogs shed
- Accessories
It would be best if your dog shed has most or all of the following: bedding, toys, food bowls, and other dog shed accessories.
- Distance from the house
There are dogs that keep on barking that keeping them quiet may be hard. If such is your dog, it would be best to put up a dog shed a good distance from the main house, assuming, of course, that the ground’s area would permit it.
Reasons for building a dogs shed
Here are some of the reasons for building a dog shed for your canine friend:
- For keeping the dog safe and sound
Especially for puppies, keeping dogs in a shed would help ensure that expensive things inside the house would not be damaged by scratches and nibbling by pets. This holds particularly true if your carpet is luxurious and your sofa has a soft fabric that can be easily damaged.
Sheds would also serve as a place for them to rest and relax. When the dog suffers from an illness, it can be kept away from kids and placed in a more comfortable shed where they will be served food until they recover.
- For training the dog
The dog should have a place of its own, so you could concentrate on things you have to do. This will help the dog be more independent and be well adjusted, even when its owner or master is not around. Dog sheds are also helpful for the “toilet training of dogs.” By having a place of their own outside the house, they can be easily trained.
Popular kind of dogs shed
The barn-style dog sheds are recognized for the country image. This kind of shed is best-known for its gambrel roofs, a kind of roof that has a lower steeper slope and an upper slope that is less steep than the other on each side of the structure. The features of a good structure are: 2×4 framing, front roof extension, double doors, etc. Considering the appeal of a barn-like shed, some families are now applying the motif to dog sheds, workshops, and even garages.
