Do-it-yourself sheds are called shed blueprints, and they are serving multitudes of people save some serious cash. In today’s tough times, we need to save as much as we could. Consider this: carpenters would charge approximately from $25 per hour, and this could mean that you may have to shell our more than $100 for the entire work. In today’s tough economic times, there has to be a more financially sound option if you want to construct a shed on your own. By using the kits or the shed blueprints, you would be able to save some useful dollars. These blueprints must give directives on a step-by-step basis. It should take you from the creation of the foundation up to the installation of the roof.

Advantages of having DIY sheds

While undergoing a DIY project is more challenging that simply buying the project completely, there are quite a few advantages to undertaking the project itself. Here are just a few:

  • Enhancing the market value of one’s house
  • Creating a more beautiful look to the property
  • Giving more storage spaces
  • Involving the whole family in the DIY shed project

The wooden kind of DIY sheds

If you would care to surf the Net, you would find that the average price of a pre-built shed is around $700, but if you make it yourself, the costs could be trimmed to just two hundred. Besides the costs, there is another upside. I have heard of so many people complain (after getting a prebuilt), that they do not like the roof or the door, or the fact that it is not pink. They would rather live with the “defect” rather than pay the hefty surcharges for returning it. A do-it-yourself shed means you could customize it to your heart’s desire.

A wooden shed could be painted with so many kinds, you have full liberty in the choice of color. If it’s a combination of pink and black, weird as it is, who has the right to prevent you? It is your shed, and you should dictate the appearance of your shed based on your personal preferences.

In putting up do-it-yourself sheds, make a very particular plan, which should have details and diagrams. (Take note that if you hire an architec to come up with diagrams, you might be defeating the purpose of saving money, because these professionals do not make drawings just for the fun of it.) The next step is to determine where to put the shed, particularly if you have a large unoccupied ground. Avoid putting the shed on top of pipes, unless the shed you plan to build could be moved easily from one place to another.
